California Winter Wonderland

What a gorgeous sight! January is usually our best snow time. And it stays in the mountains!!! Yea!!! I love the rain and snow because in our temperate climate, I love the change in seasons. I stepped out into the street to capture the mountain nearest us (top). Then it rained more that night, so we really had beautiful mountains. All while the sweet Navel oranges are ready for harvest. I love California winters!!

Braving the cold. Brrrr.

The Poinsettia plant my piano students gave me at the Christmas Concert has survived torrents of rain, brief hail, and near freezing temperatures. I was worried about planting it outside, but it is a brave little thing, holding itself together, waiting for Spring.

First of three Christmas quilts

After much practice, I finally got the courage to machine quilt Vanessa's butterfly quilt for Christmas. I was afraid of ruining the top I worked so hard to make beautiful. I should have re-read the quote I have in my art studio:

"To be creative, we must give up the fear of being wrong."

The quilting went so well I got excited and am determined to finish several projects already started. My goal is to have a Christmas quilt for each of our three beds. So I finished the tree quilt (twin size) right after Christmas. My dear husband is so delighted with my quilting he bought me a watch as a gift for all my work on Vanessa's Christmas quilt.
